I thought the section on the ARCS Motivational Model was interesting. I really think that this model is correct. In the first step, you have to gain the student's attention. If you don't have the student's attention, then they won't give you the attention you want and they will feel like the information isn't useful to them. It's also a good to make the lesson relevant to the student. If you are teaching them about something that they'll never experience or hear about then they won't retain the information. I think the ARCS Motivational Model is something all teachers should know about. I know that I, like many other students, fit this model.
I really enjoyed blogging. I've only used a blog on Myspace, but I don't use it that often. I never really thought about using a blog as a teacher. It seems like a very useful way to display information to parents and students. After reading the chapter, I also learned about the community digital storytelling. I really liked how it involved the whole community.
I can't really think of anything else to add. I am really excited about how much technology is becoming involved with teaching. It can spark more interest in children and make presentations and class more interesting.
