I really enjoyed reading what other people thought about the materials covered. Everyone has such different opinions so it's good to read what other people have to say. I also liked finding out how other students wanted to integrate technology into their classrooms. I also liked reading about what people had done in the past week.
I want to learn how to use Excel better. Since it's not my favorite program, I have never really taken the time to figure it out. It seems like it would be very helpful in averaging grades and things of that nature.
To achieve my technological goals, I just need to keep practicing. I also need to stay on top of what is new in educational technology, since it is always changing.

I found this website that lets you make your own worksheets. They even have worksheets pre-made for certain subjects. I think this is really useful because it doesn't take a lot of time and it saves money (you don't have to buy books with worksheets in them.) I liked this website because it has several different types of worksheets available. You can choose from matching, fill in the blank and many others. I think this is something I would use throughout the year. The website is http://school.discoveryeducation.com/teachingtools/worksheetgenerator/
I think it would be interesting to learn to make a webpage. In highschool some of my teachers had webpages. This was an easy way of posting important dates and information. You can even post pictures from field trips or fun activities for parents to see. It's all useful for communicating with parents and relaying information to them.
To achieve these goals, I just need to practice making webpages. I also need to figure out how to make one by using instructional websites.

In chapter 8, I liked the part on "The World Wide Web." I thought it was interesting to see how much the internet will change in the coming years. I liked the fact that students and teachers will be able to access to tens of thousands of interactive educational software that's web-based. I think this will be very helpful for both students and teachers. It's also great that the internet will increase in speed dramatically.
I'm not a big fan of Excel, so I didn't do the assignment (because I had the bonus points from the research prompts.) For some reason Excel is the hardest Microsoft Office program for me. Maybe it's because I'm not a Math person.
I'm excited that I only have one final this week. But I can't believe this semester is over already, it went by so fast. I'm really excited about next year and the classes I'm taking (but that might change once classes start.)

I found the section on "computer integration" the most interesting. I agree that the most effective way to integrate technology is to place the technology at the point of instruciton- in the classroom. I think that technology is becoming so prevelant in our society that we have no choice but to put it in our classrooms. This way students will become more familiar with the newest technology.
Since the last post, we used Power Point. While I've used Power Point before, I wasn't familiar with all it did. I liked making the Power Point fo a lecture. I think I'll enjoy using them in my lectures.
I'm really glad that Christmas Break is coming up. It will be a great time to relax and chill at home. Hopefully I'll get to see my cousins. One of them is pregnant and is having her baby in January, so I'm excited about that. Unfortunately she won't make it back for Christmas because she can't travel. But thankfully all my other family will be in town!

In chapter 6, I liked the ASSURE Model. It is really beneficial to use. I think it is something that I would use in my classroom. I like the final step "Evaluate and Revise" because it can show you how effective the lesson was.
Since the last post, I learned more about forms. This was probably the least enjoyable thing I've done so far. Making the form was somewhat confusing to me. I don't know how many forms I'll be making since it was time consuming. But it was still good to learn.
When it came time for me to sign up for classes, I had my whole schedule planned out. When I got on to register almost every class I needed to take was full. This made me kind of stressed because my last education pre-req was full. So now I have to take the class at TCC. But at least I got in the class, so it's all good.

I thought that Chapter 6 was the most interesting chapter in the book so far. I liked it because it showed that technology is becoming very important in the classroom. I liked the KWL Charts idea. I had never heard of it until this chapter. I think it helps the teacher because he/she will know what their students are most interested in learning.
Since the last post, I've learned how to make a form. While I knew how to make a basic checklist, I never knew how to add drop down menus. So I thought making the form was interesting, it just took a while.
I went to the NC State game this weekend, and it was my first time sitting on the student side for the whole game. Usually I sit with my family because we get season tickets. I don't think I've yelled that much in a long time. Aside from the rain it was awesome..although the rain did feel good since it was so hot :P

I think this chapter provided the reader with a good history of the Internet. While I use the Internet everyday, I never really knew the history behind it or how it works. While I am still a little unclear as to how it works I know more then before.
I think the search activity in class was a little basic, but it would help someone that had never used Google before. However, I use Google just about everyday so it was somewhat redundant.
Right now I'm trying to figure out what classes to take next semester. I still have to take the Teaching Diverse Populations class. I'm kind of excited about that because it will be my last pre-req. for Elementary Education.

After reading chapter 4, I didn't feel as if I had learned any valuable information. I knew everything that was covered. The only thing I felt I learned was the definition of "input" and "output" and what they include.
I really liked doing the Inspiration assignment. I had never used a program like it before, so it was a new experience. I feel like it made the process of making an outline or web map much easier. It also looked more visually stimulating and pleasing then one that is copied and pasted.
Well since it's football season, I'm really excited for the FSU/Alabama game. My cousin lives in Jacksonville, and if he gets a ticket I might be able to go. But more then likely I'll be watching from the comfort of my living room. Hopefully we willwin.

After reading this chapter, I felt as if I already knew what was in the chapter. However, the chapter did further my knowledge on certain software. One thing I did not know was all the different types of software available. The section on Graphics and Multimedia Software was interesting to me. It will make the process of creating a web page much easier and less time consuming.
I enjoyed making the newsletter because I learned new short cuts on Word. I did learn the new tab feature which is helpful in making quizs/tests.

I thought the section on the ARCS Motivational Model was interesting. I really think that this model is correct. In the first step, you have to gain the student's attention. If you don't have the student's attention, then they won't give you the attention you want and they will feel like the information isn't useful to them. It's also a good to make the lesson relevant to the student. If you are teaching them about something that they'll never experience or hear about then they won't retain the information. I think the ARCS Motivational Model is something all teachers should know about. I know that I, like many other students, fit this model.
I really enjoyed blogging. I've only used a blog on Myspace, but I don't use it that often. I never really thought about using a blog as a teacher. It seems like a very useful way to display information to parents and students. After reading the chapter, I also learned about the community digital storytelling. I really liked how it involved the whole community.
I can't really think of anything else to add. I am really excited about how much technology is becoming involved with teaching. It can spark more interest in children and make presentations and class more interesting.

First Blog
While in high school, I took several computer classes. We were required to take a typing class, which was very helpful. I also took Web Design. In Web Design, we were able to practice making our own websites. Unfortunately, I don't remember how to set up a website anymore. Of course, I use a computer everyday whether it's to check my e-mail or for school purposes. I also like to use my digital camera. I always have fun taking random pictures and pictures of my family and friends.
While in this class, I hope to learn how to incorporate technology into education. It's amazing to see how much technology is used in the classroom now. Back when I was in middle school, we just had a dry erase board. Now classrooms have touchscreen boards. It seems that technology is going to only become more prominent in schools.
When I first got to FSU, I was majoring in Sports Management. After learning more about the career, I decided that it was not what I wanted to do. Ever since I had been little I had wanted to be a teacher so i switched my major. I also love football (more so college then NFL but I'll watch either), listening to music and hope to travel to Europe one day.
